TUBB (Tubulin Beta Class I) is a protein coding gene located on human chromosome 6p21.33. TUBB is also known as M40, TUBB1, TUBB5, CDCBM6, CSCSC1 and OK/SW-cl.56. The human TUBB gene encodes a 49671 Da protein containing 444 amino acids. The TUBB protein is ubiquitously expressed in ovary, bone marrow and other tissues.     beta Tubulin/TUBB 分子背景

    TUBB encodes a beta-tubulin isotype that is expressed abundantly in the developing brain. Functional analyses of the TUBB mutants show multiple defects in the chaperone-dependent tubulin heterodimer folding and assembly pathway that leads to a compromised yield of native heterodimers. The mutation at the TUBB locus could be the cause for certain forms of HLA-linked microtubule dysfunction, including immotile cilia syndrome.
