Galectin 9 Proteins, cDNA Clones Research Reagents

LGALS9 (Galectin 9, also known as HUAT; LGALS9A), located on 17q11.2, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, and zebrafish. The gene produces a 39518 Da protein composed of 355 amino acids. LGALS9 is overexpressed in Hodgkin's disease tissue and might participate in the interaction between the H&RS cells with their surrounding cells. The galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins implicated in modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. Diseases such as Dengue Virus and Adhesive Otitis Media are associated with LGALS9. The related pathways of LGALS9 include RET signaling and the Innate Immune System.

      Galectin 9 分子背景

LGALS9 (Galectin 9) is a Protein Coding gene. 6 alternatively spliced human isoforms have been reported. The galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins implicated in modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. The protein encoded by this gene is an S-type lectin. It is overexpressed in Hodgkin's disease tissue and might participate in the interaction between the H&RS cells with their surrounding cells and might thus play a role in the pathogenesis of this disease and/or its associated immunodeficiency. LGALS9 is broadly expressed in the spleen, stomach, and other tissues. Diseases associated with LGALS9 include Dengue Virus and Adhesive Otitis Media. An important paralog of this gene is LGALS9B.
