TNFRSF18 (TNF Receptor Superfamily Member 18) is a protein coding gene located on human chromosome 1p36.33. TNFRSF18 is also known as AITR, GITR, CD357, GITR-D, and ENERGEN. The human TNFRSF18 gene encodes a 26000 Da protein containing 241 amino acids. The TNFRSF18 protein is biasedly expressed in skin, appendix and other tissues. Among its related pathways are TNF Superfamily - Human Ligand-Receptor Interactions and their Associated Functions and Akt Signaling. TNFRSF18 is related to tumor necrosis factor-activated receptor activity. TNFRSF11A is an important paralog of TNFRSF18 gene. TNFRSF18 is associated with some diseases, including Tropical Spastic Paraparesis and Diverticulitis.

        GITR 分子背景

        GITR, also known as TNFRSF18(CD357), belongs to the tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNF-R) superfamily. It is the receptor for TNFSF18. GITR plays a key role in dominant immunological self-tolerance maintained by CD25(+)CD4(+) regulatory T cells. GITR may be involved in interactions between activated T-lymphocytes and endothelial cells and in the regulation of T-cell receptor-mediated cell death. GITR and its ligand are important costimulatory molecules in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases. It also mediates NF-kappa-B activation via the TRAF2/NIK pathway.
