Microsomal arylacetamide deacetylase (AADAC) competes against the activity of cytosolic arylamine N-acetyltransferase (NAT1; 108345), which catalyzes one of the initial biotransformation pathways for arylamine and heterocyclic amine carcinogens in many species and tissues (Probst et al., 1994). AADAC is also involved in the hydrolysis of the clinical drugs flutamide, phenacetin, and rifamycin (Nakajima et al., 2011).
