AHSP Information: AHSP Protein, AHSP Antibody and AHSP Gene

AHSP Protein

AHSP protein function

Acts as a chaperone to prevent the harmful aggregation of alpha-hemoglobin during normal erythroid cell development. Specifically protects free alpha-hemoglobin from precipitation. It is predicted to modulate pathological states of alpha-hemoglobin excess such as beta-thalassemia. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:12066189}.

AHSP protein expression

Tissue specificity

Expressed in blood and bone marrow.

Induction

By GATA1 during erythroid maturation.

AHSP Gene

AHSP gene / cDNA is a protein-coding gene which located on 16p11.2. The AHSP gene is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, and rat.114 organisms have orthologs with human gene AHSP.
