Vimentin Information: Vimentin Protein, Vimentin Antibody and Vimentin Gene

Vimentin Gene family

Vimentin Protein

Vimentin protein function

Vimentins are class-III intermediate filaments found in various non-epithelial cells, especially mesenchymal cells. Vimentin is attached to the nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum, and mitochondria, either laterally or terminally. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:21746880}.; Involved with LARP6 in the stabilization of type I collagen mRNAs for CO1A1 and CO1A2. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:21746880}.

Vimentin protein expression

Tissue specificity

Highly expressed in fibroblasts, some expression in T- and B-lymphocytes, and little or no expression in Burkitt's lymphoma cell lines. Expressed in many hormone-independent mammary carcinoma cell lines.

Vimentin Antibody

There are 5 Vimentin antibodies which are validated in multiple tissues with various applications, including WB, IHC-P. There are 3 Vimentin antibody for WB, 4 Vimentin antibody for IHC-P. Among all these Vimentin antibodies, there are 2 anti-Vimentin rabbit monoclonal antibodies , 3 anti-Vimentin rabbit polyclonal antibodies . All the Vimentin anbodies are produced in house and all are in stock. Vimentin antibody customerized service is available.

Vimentin Gene

VIM gene / cDNA is a protein-coding gene which located on 10p13. The VIM gene is conserved in chimpanzee, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, zebrafish, and frog.227 organisms have orthologs with human gene VIM.
